Chocolate Overload for a Birthday Boy
So I am a bit lacking on my blogging lately but remembered a few projects that I have yet to post on my blog, so here we go:)
A few weeks ago I had the joy of being asked to create a birthday cake and cupcakes for my friends son's 8th birthday. Her main request was "Chocolate" as he is quite the fan!
Part of this was a simple decorated 6" Chocolate cake. However, the flavor simple it was not! I created 4 layers of alternating chocolate cake, brownie pieces, chocolate frosting and ganache. Then covered the entire cake in chocolate ganache and more ...yes you guessed chocolate frosting...
To add some of the birthday touches I simple piped a border added some colored sprinkles and created a fondant piece to be centered with "Happy Birthday" on it of course.
I also was asked to create some cupcakes in some amazing flavor combinations. All 3 flavor selections had one thing in common...."Chocolate"
The first was a "Rolo" Cupcake. This was a rich chocolate cake with a Rolo piece baked in the center. Then topped with chocolate ganache and finished with caramel frosting and more caramel drizzle :P
Then I created one of my new favorite flavors "Chocolate Chip Cookie Lovers" This was a vanilla cake filled with chocolate chips then topped with a brown sugar buttercream, which honestly tasted like eating cookie batter(Yummo!) Then I sandwiched the frosting between a soft chewy chocolate chip cookie...oh this was so amazing!
Last request was all kid's favorite(adults too) "S more's" this was such a blast to create and eat! This cupcake starts with a graham cracker base then melted chocolate candy is layered between the crust and the rich chocolate cake. Topped with a thin layer of chocolate ganache and finally....oh yeah..Marshmallow frosting that is nicely toasted to a golden brown..and then garnished with a Hershey bar of course!
I have to these treats were truly a chocolate lovers delight and I had a blast creating each and everyone of these!
Thanks for checking out my Sweet Treats!!
Hawaiian Bridal Shower Cupcake
So over this last weekend I had the pleasure of creating 24 Mini Carrot Cupcakes with a divine Pineapple Cream Cheese frosting that was umm...to die for!
The Bride is getting married in Hawaii so I wanted to add a little touch of that to her cupcakes.
On half of the cupcakes I decided to add a simple touch of adding not only a bit of Hawaii flair but also to show that these had a hidden surprise of pineapple in the flavor of the cake and frosting
The other dozen mini's I added some fun flowers in colors that seemed in keeping with the Hawaiian theme as well as incorporating the brides colors...Again simple but a fun little touch;)
But honestly the best part....the moistness and flavor of this pineapple carrot cake and the frosting was more than just the icing on the cake:)
